Wykład promujący studia podyplomowe na Politechnice Warszawskiej

With Joasia Staude-Potocka

I first met Joasia Staude-Potocka over 10 years ago in Indonesia. Two Polish expats very far away from home… Joasia worked in many Asian countries, and even though we remained in contact, I never thought that we would meet on her video channel, where we would talk about empathic leadership and intercultural competences of a leader.

With Ania Sarnacka-Smith
Agility in intercultural communication – what to pay attention to in order to avoid misunderstandings

When a few years ago I started rebuilding myself after my corporate journey, Anna Sarnacka-Smith was one of the catalysts of my development. I did my DISC D3 certification with her and we spent a lot of time talking about leadership and communication.

Ania inspired me with her book titled “The Leader’s Everest” and set the bar high for me in my work on writing “Change Your Perspective. Communication Pitfalls in International BusinessI had the pleasure of being a guest on Ania’s podcast and spoke about agility in intercultural communication.

With Magda Wawrzyniak
The Greenhouse of Potential

What did Magda write to announce a meeting with me?

“Do travels educate? Probably not every travel. And yet! Irek’s travels certainly permitted him to amass a great deal of information about the way we, Poles, communicate.

  • Do we really share some features in communication?
  • Do we have a distinctive style?
  • What kind of impression do we make with our rituals in comparison to others?
  • What conclusions can we draw from this comparison?
  • Does the way in which we communicate work to our advantage or disadvantage?
  • Is there a nation with a prominent style of communication?
  • Are there any universal rules worth following in communication?

Bernard Fruga
Online communication with foreigners – traps and tips

Every week, my dear colleague Barnard Fruga sends out inspiring e-mails to people from his mailing list. „Jednominutowy Fruga” (“Fruga in a Minute”) contains a lot of inspiring leadership and personal commentary as well as discussions on the latest IT trends and gadgets – a really worthwhile read.

I met with Bernard on his YouTube channel for the occasion of publishing my book. I was really pleased when Bernard wrote this on his weekly newsletter:

“Last week, Irek was a guest on my YouTube programme. For over an hour, we talked about the challenges of interculturalism, in particular, in the era of hybrid work.

The Thursday author meeting with Irek Zyzański reminded me of how painfully I burnt my legs during my stay in Crete.

Take a different look… at my red legs.

I had to avoid the beach and the sea for most of the days spent on this beautiful Greek island. I could blame only myself for it, because the next day after arrival, laying on the beach under an umbrella, I started reading the book “Change Your Perspective. Avoiding Miscommunication in International Business” (Popatrz inaczej. Pułapki komunikacji w biznesie międzynarodowym). It was so captivating that I didn’t notice that the sun was grilling my skin. It’s difficult to say whether the book was worth such a big sacrifice, but I must admit that it is the best publication that I read last year.

….

Fortunately, Irek Zyzański’s book, with which I have opened my newsletter today, is written in a very reader-friendly style. I see the worth of “Change Your Perspective”in how it combines an honest autobiographical testimony with a solid knowledge foundation and practical tips. In my opinion, it is a must-read for the Poles working in an international environment”.
